Shazam 2 release date: Shazam Fury of Gods movie was planned to reveal additional members from Shazam! Shazam Family later in the year, following the initial trailer that made its debut at Comic-Con and then was hit by a delay.
The official title of this DC sequel announced during DC FanDome some time in August of 2020 but we’ll have to wait until the month of March 2023 to see returning the heroes and their super-powered family.
Shazam 2 is back with the team of creators that made the original film such a delight and it’s director David F Sandberg, screenwriter Henry Gayden and producer Peter Safran. We hope they’ll deliver the same magic again.

Shazam 2 release date: Shazam Fury of the Gods will begin showing in cinemas on 17 March 2023 following its latest delay to release date.
It was announced that the DC sequel was expected to be released on the 21st of December 2022 after an advance starting on June 2nd 2023. But the sequel was hit by the latest delayed release in August of 2022, which could be the final move.
Sandberg was previously joking about the many changes, and assured fans that, despite the shift in the news the plan for filming hasn’t changed in the least.
“And Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently a summer 2023 movie… WB was saying, ‘Why don’t you just put fake beards on children?’ And I thought”If Tom Cruise is going to space on his own, then why not just wait for our children to grow beards! It’s an important plot aspect,” he tweeted.
“Seriously however, this does not mean that we need to alter the shooting schedule, therefore there’s no reason to freak out over the age of the children. It’s okay to be concerned about your age however. I’ll be 42 in 3 years. I’m sure you can!”
The sequel was shot from May through August 2021 following the original plan of a mid-2020 shoot.

The first trailer that was fully-featured for Shazam! Fury of the Gods was unveiled at Comic-Con 2022. This trailer gives us the first glimpse of this DC sequel.

Shazam 2 cast: Who’s returning for Shazam”Fury of the Gods?
Then again, it would not be an Shazam! movie without Zachary Levi as Shazam and Asher Angel as William ‘Billy’ Batson, so they’ll both be returning.

Shazam 2 Story: What is the plot of Shazam 2? Shazam Fury of the Gods is about?
We do not know much about what the storyline in the sequel is going to be apart from it being clear that Shazam is bound to face some gods who are angry.
From the trailer’s first look it appears that Shazam is facing some sort of superpower crisis and is struggling to keep Shazam and the Shazam Family functioning together. We’re certain that the threat from Atlas’s daughters could alter that, however.
It is possible that there was a chance for the Shazam Family having their superpowers at the end of the initial film that placed them in the spotlight of Hespera and Kalypso since the powers they had were stolen away from gods.
In the wake of Mark Strong ruling out a return to the role of Dr. Thaddeus Sivana it may be a sign that we should put off any future sequel to the credit sequence from the first film. Shazam’s star Zachary Levi certainly seems keen to see Shazam to join forces with various characters within The Worlds of DC. Although a team-up film may not be in the near future, there may possibly be more appearances in the sequel.
When it came to the many DC Easter egg hunts in the movie’s debut the film’s creators informed Digital Spy that there was only one restriction: they were not allowed to utilize any character who was that was not yet part of DC’s Worlds of DC.
